Berlin - Foundation Students

I am currently planning next years Foundation year and I would like to get some feedback from students about an idea for a trip.

I would like to take you guys to Berlin (don't get too excited it is only a pipe dream at the moment!) so I have done some research into costs etc.

The cheapest I seem to be able to find is around £300 per student which includes flights and hotel 4 days and 3 nights. Can I get some feedback on whether this is a feasible amount, bear in mind you will need spending money on top of this too, would also need to get a passport if you don't have one already (£80) and a visa if you are from outside the EU. I am not sure whether EMA would give you anything towards this trip but I will do some investigating over the next few days.

If I opened this up to all Fashion students, say 30 maximum, how many people would actually be able to come? Be really honest here guys and ask the people who would be handing over the cash!!

Thanks for your feedback!

Emily

  2. I think it depends on when you're thinking. If it's before christmas or directly after xmas I wouldnt be able to. However later on in the year I reckon I could. AMAZING.

  4. I think it could be cheaper then 300 pound to stay here in berlin for 4 days.
here are a few links for hostels which are in a nice area and are quite cheap (from 12 euro per night)

and then if you book early on ryanair you could fly for 10-15 pounds from east midlands airport to berlin.

also I think there is a ticket for public transport which is valid for 5 days and gives you 50% off most of the museum admission and stuff.
Tell me if you need any help for planning the trip:)

  5. Hey Lilo, thanks for the info.. Unfortunately we have to book through studytours so that we have the proper insurance. I spent a weekend there for less that £200 but because of the laws that govern student trips we are not allowed to go direct to the hostel/airline etc.

    Rubbish I know!

The travel ticket sounds fab though I will certainly look into that - of course I will expect that we will have the best travel guide ;)

  6. Is the chinese thing above porn again? Remember? :S

YES lets go just to see Lilo! But that does suck about the price thing.
Can we not just book it all independently? We will all be 18, so what if weall booked our flights and accom ourselves and then met up in berlin.
    I dunnooo.... ?

  8. Jesses idea sound good.(Y) so technically it's not a college trip we just all happen to appear in the same place at the same time. Let's call this trip, "Coincidence" because just sounds like a good name. :)

  9. Yeah cuz I'd love to have a trip to berlin, but I'm not comfortable paying 300 when I could be doing for much less. I'm practically poor as it is! Ha. :)

  10. Sorry guys there is absolutely no way we can do this. What you need to remember is that this will give us insurance, and will look after us in case there are any problems.

  11. Even if this was opened to all students, don't think there's anyway at all that I'd be able to make it, but it is a nice idea x

  13. I would LOVE to go to Berlin.
But £300, is just not happening.
I can barely afford this course as it is.
Well see if anyone hires me for a job. Fingers crossed.
Could we not do a fundraiser or something, and I would prefer something more adventurous than London, but it still sounds good if we do go there.
