Music and Update

Indie Rokkers by MGMT - I suggested this for Jawairia's FMP.

Kiss with a Fist by Florence and The Machine, maybe for someone's FMP.

I might actually use This Is by Grace Jones for my collection.

Model packs were sent out today and flyers have been handed out to people, so we should start to see some responses coming through next week. A few people have volunteered to come in tomorrow and help send out invitations and things.

For the next meeting, we should have a number of models confirmed, more ideas for the catalogue and t-shirts/masks. We need to finalise everything, so hair and make up need to call Sutton and start working with them immediately. Press/sponsorship need to make sure that people and companies have been contacted.

Foundation and Second Years please make sure you've emailed or handed in your collection synopsis.

FIVER FUND: Hand it in asap!

Please make sure each team has something to show by the meeting on Monday 3pm.

Music Suggestions

These are some music suggestions, please use this blog to post your own ideas and please have a listen to the songs on here and make your opinions known!

Ranushka suggested U.R.A Fever by The Kills for the Little Black Dress collection, which I think is great.

Innocence by Bjork could be quite cool for the Androgyny collection.

Candy Castle
by Glass Candy, maybe for Sportswear?

Ghost Girl by Telepopmusik, maybe for Flotsom and Jetsom.

For my own FMP collection I want Mnemonic by Robots In Disguise.

And I suggested Prince Harry by Soho Dolls to Jenny for her FMP.

Please put forward some music ideas if you don't like mine, don't leave it to other people.

If you have an opinion than post and bring music on CD or memory stick to the next meeting, which is on Monday 1st June at 3pm.

Some first years are needed this Friday to help Emily send out invitations and letters, etc. Ranushka was the only person who volunteered at the last meeting, but she has her FMP work to do, so first years please come in! it's not fair to leave the work to people who have entire collections to make in the next 3 weeks.

FASHION SHOW MEETING MINUTES 22/05/09

Here is an overview of the meeting that took place today.

Hair & Make-up

It has been defonaltly decided that we are going with the messy/sleek (day/night) look however we do need test shots of all possible styles on different hair types ASAP to finalise details etc. It was also agreed that hair&makeup should get in contact with sutton students for their help with the prosthetic and make up and see wether they would be willing to do any test shots.

Catalogue

As we are now going with the clinical theme, it was suggested that we should use medical/prescription forms for the invitations and in the showguide as student profiles. These could include passport photos of ouselves, negatives of the garments to look like x-rays and medical drawings of the designs along with 'medical looking' notes and annotations. It was also suggested that a mock clip board could be used as the front of the showguide. The team are goin to do a couple of mock up's for next weeks meeting so we can all see how successful these ideas are. They are also goin to source some medical masks from college's dental department for us to wear. It has been finalised that the fashion lab logo will be printed on to these (the one on the doors)
Another idea for the t-shirts was to have lab coats printed on to the t-shirts.

Models

The model team have passed on the details to graphics and needs to be printed asap and placed around college, town etc. We need to start seeing photos of models that have confirmed on the boards so we can start to arrange models to collections. Remeber at least 30!

Sponsorship

The sponsorship team have had the letter checked by Emily and needs to be sent out to all possible sponsors in the next few days as this is a long process. Press/VIP also need to be contacted as soon as possible for confirmation of their attendance. If anyone has any ideas for sponsorship/vip please let the team know.

In the meeting styling for the show was also discussed. Here is a list for possible styling/accessories (non have been finalised)

Black dress-white tights, white jewelary
Flotsom & Jetsom-bare feet, cork wedges, sandles, flip-flops, fishing nets
Sportswear- white heeled pumps, flat pumps
Androgyny- trilby hats, brogues, heeled brogues

The quicker these ideas are finalised the quicker sponsorship can get on to sourcing them.
Also if anyone is shoe size 5 or above and you don't mind lending shoes them please could you lend any black, nude shoes or anything that you think will be suitable for the collections.

If everyone could try and contribute song choices for next weeks meeting either on mp3 or cd so we can start to finalise music.

Fiver fund must be in by 1st June, handed in to either me or Sian.

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD ON THE FIRST MONDAY BACK AFTER HALF TERM WHICH IS THE 1ST @ 3PM IN THE FASHION LAB. PlEASE ATTEND!!

If anyone does have any more ideas/suggestions them post them on here as its the easiest way for us to stay in touch over half term!

Have a good half term guys :)

Wednesday 20 May 2009

Check this out.

Hey guys
In our last meeting after agreeing on the clinical theme, someone mentioned something about people wearing face masks to "protect" them from swine flue, and that developed onto the idea of printing on face masks instead of having a t-shirt. Basically i've found this blog and one of the posts had masks printed on them for swine flu.

Also, the fiver fund money was supposed to be in today, but not everyone has given in their money, so the deadline for the money has now moved to Friday 22nd May.
Please could you give the money to either me or Siobhan, thanks

C L I N I C A L : Fashion show meeting minutes 18th May

C L I N I C A L : Fashion show meeting minutes 18th May

Key Dates to remember:17th June -
Fashion show @ 1pm -schools
6.30pm - for 1st years friends and family
8.30pm - for 2nd year & foundation friends and family and VIP.

Following on from last week's meeting, each group spoke about what they had done so far to contribute to organising the fashion show;

Sponsorship;
So far sponsorship have writen their default letter to send to potential sponsor's that just needs to be proof read by Emily and sent off with a dvd of last years show.For the next meeting the sponsorship team have said they will contact the Birmingham Mail, House of Fraser, Krispy Kreme, Nivea and Morreli's as these are the most high profile clients and need to be contacted ASAP.

Catalogue;
The catalogue and t-shirts team came up with a range of ideas for our show guide and t-shirts.This included using a range of illustration techniques ink/stencil etc... However as a group we decided we were all coming up with ideas that were a bit old hat and we could create something more innovative and dynamic to show our full potential.( see below)Also could all 2nd year's & foundation give in their 100 word synopsis to a member of the catalogue team by this Friday!

Hair & Make-up;
The team showed a few more ideas for the hair and make- up following on from the Day/Night theme.By the next meeting the team have said they will have produced a range of test shots on various hair types and skin tones.

Models;
So far the model team have found 13 models so keep up the good work! Remember we do need at least 30 models and put all the models you have up on the board in the studio.Remember to tell the models the day of the show and their fittings will be on the 16th at 9 & 11am, also warn them there may be some waiting around!

After consideration we decided that the theme and concept of the show was a bit dull and had been seen before, so after we broke into groups we came up with the theme Clincal. This came from Emily W's idea of the studio being a laboratory and very clincal we then thought about using white surgical masks with some sort of logo or print on them, having hospital wrist bands and using doctor's notes and blank pescriptions for the invites/catalogues/model information ( this all needs to be discussed in more detail in Friday's meeting.)Kirsty Came up with the idea of using prosthetic's to make the models look distorted in tone with the eerie, dark theme of the show. Emily W also suggest a "half ready" look, with washed out faced and half done make up. Emily FH suggested having an intro that would shock the audience. She thought of staging a power cut, then having a few dim lights over the catwalk and people dressed in Lab coat's with sugery masks spraying the audience with what looks like disinfectant but will be water.

Remember the next meeting is on Friday @ 10 am , please have more suggestions for the theme and some more music suggestions as well!

Fashion Show meeting minutes

Hi guys, in reference to our previous meetings, this is a brief overview of the minutes from last wednesday's meeting :

Farah opened the meeting by asking if anyone had any initial ideas for the theme of the show.
Leanne suggested the idea of having the models dressed like dolls with rosy cheeks and red lips.
Emily also auggested a moving through time theme, almost like evolution as the collections progressed. For example to start with flotsam and Jetsam with the model's hair very messy almost wet look hair and then as the collections moved on to slicker collection's like androgyny the models hair would become more groomed.
Someone else also suggested a day and night theme in reference to Jess's magazine cutting, the day look being very minimal hair and makeup, slick hair and strong eyebrows ( like the second years did for the star awards), and the night look to be wild bed head hair with glamourous makeup (see Jess's cutting) . If anyone can remember who suggested this theme, please let me know!
In the end the day and night theme seemed to be the most favoured but if anyone else has any ideas please put them forward in the next meeting!
We also decided that Sian and Siobhan would be in charge of the fiver fund. Everyone in fashion must give their money in by the 20th may.
Second Year and foundation FMP's must be completed by 3 college days before the show ( so not including the weekend) this is so dress fittings can be done in time!
Music:
Please could everyone bring in some more suggestions for music or even post them onto the blog by next week's meetings.
I did make a few suggestions, for the sports collection I think something very minimal yet uptempo would suit the collection, because sportswear has strong connections to urban music in particular hip hop. if you guys want to youtube my suggestions; Burial - raver, Rusko - forever, Caspa & rusko - rock bottom.
I also suggested a few kings of leon tracks for the Black dress collection; Crawl, Molly's Chambers, Charmer.
Nush Suggested Crystal Castles - Air war & the kills - ura fever for the black dress collection as well.
We then moved onto criteria for the models and model scouts;
Models must be of 5" 7 or above, they must be between size 8- 12.
There was also a suggestion of a flyer being made and handed out to the potential models with information about castings and the show, possibily a graphics student to help produce the flyer?

Also if anyone knows anyone within our college who does photography and would be willing to do the photos of the catwalk please let Emily know.

People were then put into groups to help produce and organise the show, here is a list of who is in what group, if there are any problems then please see Emily;
