End Of Year Show!

Okay, so I just about managed to scribble down all of the notes from todays meeting. I've literally just got home, and thought before I forget I better blog them up!

So the show itself has to be slick and simple. NO dances and NO routines! We want it to look professional :) 500 + are expected to attend.

The collections: We're hoping to get at least ONE garment from every single person to go on the runway. That's first years, second years and the foundations.
There are 34 FMP collections!

Allocated teams, think about your strengths and which one you feel you'd be able to contribute most too.

Finding Models: We need to start finding models from now!! They have to be at least 5'7 and a size 12! As part of this team your responsible for looking after them. Collating details, phoning them up, arranging for photographs! DVDS. Also it's your responsibility to make flyers to attract potential models! It needs to look professional -maybe ask the graphics to help out? :) The people in this team are responsible for the most part, but really we all need to look for models. The more the better!

Hair & Make Up: So we're hoping to work with the Hair and Make up team at James Watt! By working with them I mean sharing ideas and listening to their input. This year we want to give them more of a say about the overall look. I think we need to phone them up to confirm if they're going to do it or not. Michella did mention she knew a team of professional hair and make up stylists that would be willing to help out. Our models need two distinctive looks, one really extravagant and one not so much.

Sponsership and Press: In terms of press we're competing with BCU for the Birmingham Mail. Emily has a list of contacts of people who we want there! So if you think you've got the gift of the gab, and are a good talker this is like the perfect team for you!! We want as much press there as possible!! For example Jacob Kimmie, Brenda (from the council, independent designers, Retail Birmingham etc.

Show Catalogue: This year one of the graphics students is designing our show catalogue as part of his FMP. He wants to photograph our garments in black and white for it. We need a team of people to work with him and help pick out some of the best garments from first, second and foundation years.

T-Shirts!: The t-shirt itself is a simple black one, backstage it'll help identify who we are and seperate us from others. We need a few people to come up with designs for these t-shirts (no they can't be cut up/slashed etc lol) They're just going to be printed on :)

Music: Those in this team are responsible for collating different genres of music also sound checks!! We'll all input some ideas but they then present back to the rest of us. We need a different track for each collection, and they need to push the 2nd years and foundations for their final music which will be used for their FMP.
DIZZEE RASCAL is BANNED. lol gutted.
Emily suggested a few alternative types to pop such as Classical, Dubstep, 1940's War Music.
Please no swearing, and be aware of any references to drugs in the lyrics.

Video-ing & Photography: Someone whose good at capturing the moment, and quick on the camera!

I think some of the second years mentioned having 3 shows. One for the parents to come and watch, and the final show for all of the press.
THURSDAY 17TH JUNE <-- Best of the best! (Special tickets maybe ?) That date is confirmed.

Styling: Someone whose maybe looking into styling for the future? You need to think about shoes, accessories and what the feel of the show should be.

Once we've sorted out whose in which team, each team will then have a representative who will come for each meeting.

As first years we are SLAVES lol we'll each be allocated to a second year! But we get our own backs next year;)

Venue: So we don't actually have funding to get one. We were thinking about maybe having it in the Fashion Lab?
Amy Jane (first year) mentioned she might be able to get Bamboo/Gatecrasher for free, so she's looking to find out by the end of this week.

Fundraising!! We will need:
Shoes
Make Up
Tights
Underwear
Accessories
Everyone has to at least put in a fiver :)

Themes: Maybe take inspiration from classic black and white photos? I think Emily (2nd year) mentioned that, plus it would tie in with the show catalogue!

Escapism?

Models! Themes! Venue! + Groups need to be sorted by next week! Our next meeting is Monday 10th May at 12:00.

If the second years and foundation could just write a list of their projects throughout the year would really help:) I didn't managed to write all of them down earlier!
The first years are: The Little Black Dress, Hair Inspired Garment and our final Apocalyptic Situation.
